This is not the La Belle Danse company performing. This is an excerpt of Purcell's "Fairy Queen" from the 1989 Aix-en-Provence Festival in France. The wonderful dancers are from Francine Lancelot's now defunct "Ris et Danceries" company.

  • This looks more like ballet than baroque dance! Let's considerate this as an historical document, very interesting to say the least, and continue the quest for a pure style and expression.

  • @celeluwhen... It looks like French Baroque dance and was choreographed by the French dance historian Francine Lancelot. What it does not look like is American or English Baroque dance. Who are you to say that the style is not pure?

  • LOVE this chaconne, really takes me back to good ol'times

  • We're glad that it does!

  • Absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!! Thank you so much for this video!!!! Does it exist the whole video of this production?

  • Yes it does! It can be purchased through the "House of Opera" website.

  • 5 stars and kindest compliments for this delighting performance - from Berlin/Germany and an individuum, addicted to Chaconnes (as you can see in our channel;-))) ). - Siegfried
