  • A spiritual adviser of Scott Peck pointed out quite correctly that stage 4 which he was discussing is just the start

  • @Raffzeee Yes, it is a scary process to go through.

  • Good theory i guess im a atheistic mystic :P

  • Its refreshing to see people in here that can suffer through the doubts without slamming the gavel down on either side, as the atheists and fundamentalist do. Stage 4 is tougher, but also more joyful.

  • is there also a book called: not the atheist type, turncoat of a believer? just curious :)

  • I got my best information and therapy from Dr. M. Scott Peck books; The Road Less Traveled etc.

  • We have to suffer to get to stage IV. We have to suffer through our doubts and fears. We have to temporarily lose God to become closer to him. Of course we never lost him, we were geting closer to him all the time.

  • I don't think his delivery is condescending at all, by nature any stage theory of faith is going to attract this accusation, however it is an important and useful truth in my opinion. It may be helpful to consider that God loves a stage 4 person no more than a stage 2 (or 1 or 3).

  • I thank you for taking the time to put this information out there in you own words. However, although you did your best to not talk down to your audience, your tone was a bit condescending. Not in an obvious way, but rather sounded a bit elitist! Examine your motives for posting the information!

  • I really like Peck's stage model and think most Christians and Muslims are (at best) in stage 2. Unfortunately many stay there based on the guilt involved in further examining the nature of things and, well, truth.
