How are seals an abomination??? LOL
Many seal populations are threatened because their prey, many commercially important fish, are themselves threatened. Other populations that have been growing because their natural predators, the Orca, have been pushed to the brink of extinction themselves.
If anyone is an abomination it is humans, we have poisoned so much of the earth and ocean, and even kill each other with cruel weapons. We are the animals!

okay, say they are good riddance. So let's say you catch a seal trying to get into one of your traps, you look all around and there's no one, so you shoot it. Say there's a lobsterman and all he does is take up space, he never takes care of his traps, he gets tangled up with everyone else. Do you shoot him? No, you cut off his gear and drive him out. There are bigger problems than the seals. Don't give EPA or NMFS any reason to say, "hey, fishermen don't care about the animals in the ocean."

@saltwaterbandit ...That may be true where u live..but where I live they are designed to be about waist height to make it harder for you to go falling over the side in a swell...And I have been fishing for around 40 years.

What keeps the groundline from becoming a "rat's nest" on deck?

Nothing, but it usually goes out clear. Sometimes it does tangle though, the wrong pot goes off, makes for a nice mess
