Yes you do irritate me somewhat. Sages and gods are not immune to irritation/anger. I won't pretend that I am. Secondly, if spiritual independence is the party line trumpeted by Buddhists, and they are so firm in their no-god doctrine, then perhaps they should rely solely on themselves for whatever nihilistic salvation they see as their goal, and not appeal to the many mutated versions of Hindu and other divinities for aid in their journey.
A bit hypocritical isn't it?

@birdofflame587 - I sense you get agitated, do I provoke you in some way? Indra's net. Remember?
-
Yep. No concept of an impermanent basis upon which all other phenomena is based upon. I got a question for you - Mahayana, Theraveda, Zen, Tibetan and all your other schools with grossly divergent ideologies...WHO exactly has it right, who is most in keeping with the Buddha's original doctrine?
-
@birdofflame587 - soul ... what is a soul? Don't mix apples and oranges.
-
And as for Buddhists understanding quantum mechanics...lol. You obviously have some grouse against Hinduism, hence your earlier comment about Hindus absorbing other belief systems. I won't bother to waste the time on you any longer. You have your way, your svadharma, and others have theirs. Leave it at that.

Laughable. You are not quoting him either. How can one be a GOD when one does not even admit the existence of a SOUL. So what are we, just mere causal and astral bodies, with nothing IMPERMANENT about us? Buddhism is nihilistic. Nirvana itself is a state of OBLIVION and EXTINCTION. "Snuffed out." As if suffering can ONLY be avoided by non-existence.
-
@birdofflame587 - disagree, you are not exactly quoting him, are you? He said you are your own god. We are reality creating light beings. There is a reason why Buddhists understand quantum mechanics.

@LuxiusDK Hinduism did not exist then as it does now. Vedic practice and Puranic practice are two completely different entities. Personally I could never follow a religion whose founder preached that there is no soul and no God (and don't try to argue, before the Buddhist schism into different schools, that is EXACTLY what Buddha preached).
-
@birdofflame587 - I know. With good reason. It goes back to the Vedas, where Hinduism sucked up as many tribes, traditions and beliefs as possible.
-
Buddhists put their own spin on Hindu deities. Buddhism was born from the belief that Hinduism was flawed ideologically to begin with.
Always on these pages I am reading ignorant or superior comments from Christians and Muslims - two religions that have caused more war, suffering and death than any others in the history of humanity. The world would be a better place without them! Long live Hinduism, Buddhism and Paganism!
