I was a propane guy for a few years for Ferrelgas. You always open it all the way or closed all the way, or the seals can leak when they get older. Or that is what was explained to me during training, and they repeated it over and over how important it was as the tank ages. I also had to re certify tanks and replace the valves in them every few years. They do wear out so I guess it makes sense. Hope that helps.

fyi you dont have to turn the tank all the way open u can just make one full turn with the knobb
