WOW! I remember back when the game came out Nintendo Power had a contest for a gold-colored controller for best time on this track. I think the best I ever got was around 1'30'' or so. I sent my time in. The next issue came out with the winner's time under a minute. Been this long I finally got the answer!

this is not fake and it's not cheating. if you actually tried the shortcut you would see it's one of the hardest in the game to pull off.
