@calumknight1984 Yes it does HEAVY imply that that is the chase though as i said earlier Magnus leaves the other two options open also.

That they where either animals that the first men brought with them as they colonized Fenris.

Or

That the Fenrisian wolf is something much older then mans arrival on Fenris, I think he implied that they might be some kind of Warp creatures which would be ironic as one of the the things the Wolf priest show disgust at was the TS warp pets.

@Erikjust i thought the book made it damn clear what the fenrisian wolves were.... they were once men, magnus states that the canis helix the space wolves suffer from has nothing to do with their gene seed it was humans manipulating the human genome so they could better survive on fenris. Prospero burns backs this up when the main character is shown a fenrisian wolf and the psyker that showed him explains that it was one of the men that saved him from the wreckage of his ship on fenris

@fenrisianwolves Perhaps but Magnus the Red also gives other options when he talks about this with Ahriman.

The Earliest settlers on Fenris experiment with their genes in order to survive the harsh world on Fenris perhaps at one time they went too far and it had unforeseen consequences.

Or perhaps the wolves come from something alot more ancient then mans arrival on Fenris.

to the phrase there are no wolves on fenris the statement is true the wolves that live there now were brought by the earliest settlers the statement means that fenris had no wolves before man arrived still try saying to the wolves now :)
