This Demo is trying build an alarm system with Sun SPOT. The system is consist of tow parts: outside house and inside house. Outside house there are SPOTs connected to infrared sensors, while inside house there is a SPOT base station connected to the computer. All the SPOTs are connected wireless as a network. When the infrared sensors outside catch something, the alarm message will be sent to the base station. The alarm service on the computer got the message from base station and send out a cell phone SMS alarm to the host.
