any tips for a soul breeder? or is it all luck?

anyone have advice for a soulbreeder? anyone know tings to do that helps them tame. someone told me not to tame with buffs and to let them hit yoou and do damage before taming.. someone also told me to tame bosses they have a higher rate to tame... i dont know if any of this is true. but please tell me if u guys know any tricks
