While all talk of "death panels" is ridiculous and absurd, the notion that we as a people need to examine how we live and die with dignity should be one of the top priorities of the faith community. As a pastor who has worked in a clinical setting, I can say that right now chaplains must often "fight the system" in their desire to help patients and families who do not want treatment to continue on indefinitely. I think the "end of life provisions" are some of the most important in this bill
