The most "Amazing" thing here is the number of internet aces that pop out of the woodwork to brag about their abilities any time somebody posts a video of a crosswind landing.
On an unrelated note.....I once landed a 747 in a 90 knot crosswind.....on an aircraft carrier.......in a snowstorm....with two engines out......inverted.

I find slips way easier than crabs when it comes to crosswind. I prefer to always be parallel to the center line, instead of having to kick it over at the last second. It makes the transition from final approach to touchdown easier and maybe a little safer.

Using flaps in those kinds of winds is unnecessary and adds to the problem. Side slip with no flaps kick it straight just before touchdown, stick all the way back and full aileron into the wind.
-
Rather a poor cross wind landing really. To fast. Never flared into the wind and let it settle and then the next move was to rudder it around straight with the runway and aileron into wind and land. There is only one right way to do it.

I'm just jealous because I can't afford a Husky and have to fly the Champ.
-
damm......i feel like such a pussy beacause im only a FSX pilot.
BUTT......when the new MICROSOFT FLIGHT sim comes out, it looks fairly kik ass.
-
I bet almost all of the dislikes are from people who have never landed a taildragger!
-
11 gusting to 18 really isn't bad wind!

@TheTodd2u The reason everyone is being so hard on him is because he wrote that the landing was 'amazing'. There was nothing wrong with it but it certainly WAS NOT 'amazing'. He invited these negative comments himself

Damn!!! everyone seems to have been standing there when this landing was done. Stop picking the guy apart. It was not a grease on by far. But does anyone know if the pilot has 5 hours in it or 5,000 hours? I know a ton of ag pilots that fly in every kind of wind you can imagine, and they still bounce and get a little sideways from time to time, not to mention they have thousands of hours. Good job on not bending a $100,000.00 plane. Everyone is a critic and alot of people are just fsx pilots.
To label it amazing is to invite critical comment. Carefully observe the wing position. Except for the correction on touchdown the wing was mostly level or even high on the upwind side, thus the motion on final was a crab not a slip. Not best, but OK except for the missing "kick" mentioned in another reply. Most concerning is the disproportionate sense of competence implied with the adjective "amazing." Overconfidence cometh before the fall.
p.s. for this arcft count me in the 3 point club

3pt or wheel land doesn't matter in high wind, low wind, or no wind.. You guys are pickin this landing apart when it was just fine. He held the centerline, had the elevator back and kept it under control. So what if he bounced at first. Don't tell me you haven't done the same thing.
