North/Northeast Economic Development Initiative

The North/Northeast Economic Development Initiative, which is currently underway, includes an analysis of past and planned investments, possible boundary adjustments and priorities for new investments in the Interstate Corridor and Oregon Convention Center Urban Renewal Areas. The Portland Development Commission (PDC) is conducting the N/NE Economic Development Initiative in partnership with the community to ensure that PDC investments enhance livability and economic opportunity within the two urban renewal areas and the city at-large.

The year 2008 marked the 50-year anniversary of PDC. PDC is using this milestone as an opportunity to evaluate its progress and chart the course for the next 50 years. Analyses of PDCs investments in the three central city urban renewal areas and the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Area have already been completed. The N/NE Economic Development Initiative is the next phase, and the results of this study will be used to update the plans for both the Interstate Corridor and Oregon Convention Center Urban Renewal Areas.
