  • “Here great ships load up on iron ore, look at the vast black metal cranes, like a Giants cradle. There are mountains of materials: gravel, sand, iron ore and grey stuff, and flames issue from turrets,” Rochelle says as they sweep past the blistered, wet tires that line the flat concentrate sides of the dock.

  • “The salty sea and huge cargo tankers, you can't get better than this, back to the ocean!” Damon admires.

“I wonder how many television sets are on those cargo ships,” Rochelle asks.

“I wonder how high that water is squirting up to,” says Gareth.

  • Escape from Detroit! The itinerary took them to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, boat tour of the locks, Canada on the other side. Water ideal for reflection, but the waves were mildly choppy. "Perhaps we should leave, cross the bridge to Canada?" Yolanda suggested. A great chocolate biscuit of an oil tanker sailed past, the honk of its klaxon pithy, the wake of its hull lapping docks were ships loaded up on iron ore. The team disembarked and headed for the bridge.

  • i hate it here!!!! it gets too cold in the wintertime!!!! but the sights are beautiful, and the snow seems to last year round, lol
