The Bells, a Canadian rock band from Montreal-Quebec, started in 1965 as The Five Bells. The group featured South African natives Anne and Jackie Ralph as well as Cliff Edwards, Dough Gravelle and Gordie McLeod.

Dedicated to my best friend David & his fiancee Megan of Virginia. They met and fell in love at the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games earlier this year. Lots of love to you both...

  • This song brings back fond memories of someone I loved many years ago. Sadly, she's no longer with us, having passed on in 1987. While I miss her deeply, I'm thankful for the time she was part of my life. I hope and pray that I'll see her again in heaven.

  • @TheIrishMikeB Thank you for sharing that with us. Yes, it's sad when one we love goes, but it is those memories we hold dear in our heart that help us to keep moving forward in life. I wish you continued happiness and peace and joy and love - Jo.

  • Was this song from 1971? WOW I was so young back then, but I still love this song.

  • Cliff Edwards, not just a great musician and writer, but a terrific guy and a very good touch football player. Northumberland County in Ontario was richer for having him there for a while.

    Peace, Cliff.

  • two thumbs up!

  • @TheIrishMikeB

I am so sorry for you loss. As sappy as this song is, it's beautiful. Hold on to your precious memories. I'm sure she was worth it. And yes, you WILL see her again. <3

  • Sappy Tune!! The first time I'd heard it I thought she was singing 'HOWIE makes me smile" I was wondering who Howie was!!! (AM Radios weren't too clear then!!)

  • 2 people didn't stay long enough.

  • I finally found my first love after 40 years and this song brought us back together..but he's no longer a free man but I still love him as the first day we met back in 1971...my love will never fades away...I guess I'm gonna stay...

  • I recall hearing this song as a kid.

  • I remember this while I was in Army flight school in Texas in '71. I was 18, lonely and this made me feel better about what was about to happen.

  • I remember my mom listening to this song when I'm little, Ilike this song, I'm wondering why this song dont have a footage video,I dont know what the singers looks like.
