Megabus : MCI D4505 On The M22 To Boston On The Macombs Dam Bridge
I just have to say.....OH MY GOD! I was so surprised to catch this bus here. This was a shocker to me. This bus looks great with its paint scheme and it sounds so freaking awesome!
Screw Megabus! 9th ave has become a virtual bus terminal to a dozen cities! And these bus people block the whole damn sidewalk often while boarding. I have to pass that street to get to work, why should I have to walk around the bus into the line of traffic. And I've seen people standing in a blizzard waiting for those buses because they're too cheap to take Greyhound. I can understand not wanting to fly but last I checked, Greyhound's not expensive. And I overhear people say how late the bus is
@Thesupermachine2000 Some buses owned by Megabus are double-decker. But double decker buses are normal so I still don't get why it's called "Mega" bus.
@1LoudMerc Yeah I can see why it's supposed to go over the Triboro Bridge. Definitely more direct than Macombs Dam Bridge. Of course buses are not allowed on the Henry Hudson Parkway and the Harlem River and FDR Drives so we can't say that it's an option.Again. I do recall being on the red-eye bus from Boston and waking up finding myself traveling down Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem.
@NHRHS2010 their not really suppose to be taking that route over that bridge. The normal route is suppose to take them across the Triboro Bridge, and right into Manhattan and down 2nd ave to 34th street. Making a right turn there and across to 9th ave. But there really isn't any definite route to tell you the truth. I work for one the companies of Coach USA, and I can tell you, they really need more drivers, and more buses for Mega Bus.
@markiepolaris78 I know what you mean. Coach USA is somewhat screwed up. They need more buses badly. I work for one of their companies, and they needed buses from our company to cover Mega Bus routes to Boston,D.C, and Philly! They really need to get it together.
It sucks 'cause now only a few of these MCI D4505's are in service for Megabus. I prefer these MCI's over the Van Hool double-deckers, as they have overhead storage compartment that the double deckers lack. Plus the MCI's have one power outlet per passenger, whereas in the double deckers, each of the 2 passengers have to share for 1 power outlet per 2 seats. What's up with Coach USA? Is it because passenger bus travel by Megabus increased or they're too hungry to make money?
I'm not surprised that there would be a Megabus on the Macombs Dam Bridge on the route between NYC and Boston. I took the Megabus from Boston to NYC recently (which left Boston at midnight and arrived NYC at 4:30 AM) and I do recall falling asleep immediately after leaving Boston and waking up discovering that the bus was traveling southbound on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem.
I read the Megabus D4505s have CAT C13. And it sounds like the ZF Astronics. I wonder if Coach USA is still getting new buses with ZF? Im hoping not. Greyhound went to ZF on the G Series coaches until the 2008 Prevost X3-45s and starting in 09 they went right back to the Allison B500R. So hopefully Megabus did the same since to me the B500R is better then the Astronics.
