  • can you recommend any cameras that the adapter would work with. I am new to this and need to know what to look for besides a macro lens. Would this work with a canon 1014?

  • @illmaticwisdom I believe I tried it once (without actually filming) with the 1014 auto zoom and it appeared to "theoretically" work. What's required (as far as the tests I've done) is a macro lens with the capability to focus an object at the tip of the front of the S8 camera's lens and beyond. This is because what you'd actually be focusing on is the ground glass in the DOF adatper.

  • It's great to see that this works. I've been thinking about trying this out myself, and frankly I'm surprised no one has tried this sooner. Thought about picking up a Braun/Nizo 801 macro and giving it a try. Not sure if it will work, but your videos make me want to give it a shot.

  • @MMFVPR23 Glad ti hear you're considering trying! I was able to use it on this S8 camera because of it's macro lens. I needed a macro that would allow me to focus from the actual tip of the lens and beyond. This way it makes it easy to focus on the adapters ground glass.

  • So is it quite simple to add the DOF adapter to the cine camera there's

    no modifications?

  • @Ariston820 No modifications...the lens literally screws onto this S8 camera. The trick is to find one that has a macro lens that cannot only focus from the tip of the S8 lens, but that can use the macro at any zoom position (the Bauer C700 XLM has this feature). This way, I'm able to zoom into the DOF adapters screen, then turn the macro ring to focus on the ground glass. Once that's done, it's just a matter of focusing the 35mm lens.

  • I have a canon 518 (no macro focusing as far as I know) - I get a shallow depth of field effect by just zooming all the way in and focusing. So I'm confused how this adapter works?

  • @busman1951 Thanks very much! Saw "This Year's Love" that was superb!

  • @dageneral27 Wow, sorry for the huge delay...it's a Bauer C700 XLM.

  • This is one of your Demo videos that still impresses me the most. It looks so expensive and really much like 16mm reversal film and not like Super8.

I also wonder how you get the camera blimped?
