After the commandments, they talked about deadly sins. Some of these aren't bad enough to warrant eternal hell, but I bet people were made to think that so they wouldn't embrace destructive lifestyles. We all love to eat, but being a glutton leads to health problems. We all lust, but fucking everything with opposing sex organs can make you piss razor blades. That's just my theory, anyway. Christianity has a lot on common with ancient religions who didn't send you gleefully to eternal suffering
I'm agnostic, so I'm at least willing to give Intelligent Design a chance. If there really is a creator, I doubt he keeps tabs on all of us. Priests have been getting people into their churches and congregations using fear for centuries. Maybe there was an original document that basically said "behave", from the mouth of God, but the horror stories of everyone going to hell for lack of faith is just a way to control people who were once really bad, a lot like they are now.
@TransformerslNC After we say, "I don't believe that," the theist usually says something around "You're just decieved," or "Well, you're going to hell."
So we ask again. [Not for an answer according to what you believe, but one on WHY you believe it.]
And, yet again, the answer is more illogical blabber [yes illogical blabber] from the bible.
See, with the bible, this sucks, but you have to first prove a God exists. THEN and ONLY then can you try and prove your bible the correct religion.
@Vessoland Illogical blabber? It sounds like a sound answer to me. You want the answer according to what we believe. And what we believe is what was just said. No one ever said you had to like it. Instead of arguing about it, just say "oh, now I know. I don't believe that though" instead of saying the answer wasn't good enough.
@TransformerslNC That's just it. We DON'T get an answer. We just get illogical blabber from, yet again, the holy bible. They just repeat what they've read in it, don't try to rationalize it in their own heads, and condemn us to hell if we don't blindly believe it.
Is this a bed time story?

For trivial things, so that's why's I say that. The old testament was written during a time when people had become out of control.

I'd rather burn in hell than go up to live with the being that sends the souls of innocents down there on a daily basis and never lets them out.
God's a sick being. Very sick.
