In honor of late Alam Lohar, Chimta is the modern adaptation of traditional music instrument. It clangs and jingles with a wide spectrum of tones and techniques and generates that crisp, clean sound of classic metal percussion instrument. The Chimta is made of 14 gauge hot-rolled steel, is approximately 30" long and weight less than 2 lbs. Chimta. This video features multi-percussionist Tor Dietrichson demonstrating Chimta playing techniques. Tahoma Hauptman joins in on the fun for an enjoyable Chimta/Tabla jam.

I have just discovered the Chimta via videos at the moment ...... but from what i can see the original Chimta has bells on it. Yours is without any extras and i saw another that had finger cymbals on it. All look like great additions to a percussionist. I wonder where you buy all these things

Sorry. This is NOT the chimta we know of. Chimta is a traditional instrument of North India. If you invent a new instrument, fine. But please give it a new name instead of confusing the world.

"Chimta" - cultural context, traditional repertoire, genre, and idexical meaning = not chimta?
Just a rhetorical question. In other words, what is the difference between "chimta" and "metal hit with a stick"?
