A Distant Thunder - Full movie

Sequel to "A Thief in the Night", this one answers the question: Does Patty sell her soul to Satan? This is the best of the four movies; it's creepy, full of unintended humor, spookiness, and has a funky twist at the end. Accept Jesus into your heart now, before the rapture, or you'll have to hang out with crying high school girls for seven years.
Patty is lying awake one night in a church basement, distraught and scared. She is to be executed the next morning for refusing to take the Mark of the Beast. Patty knows what lies ahead if she takes the mark but can still not believe in Christ. When those around her try to comfort her and encourage her to accept the Lord, she lashes out at them, too scared to think straight. They are able to calm her down, however, and learn her story of how she got to the point she is at tonight.

A horrified Patty has just learned that her husband and millions of others have disappeared in the Rapture, an event she has heard of, but never believed in - until now. Patty desperately seeks to find her friends and family members but they have all disappeared.

Patty and two of her friends, Wenda Johnson and her sister Sandy, hide out at Patty's grandmother's and watch devastating world events unfold. Drought, famine, and earthquakes become the norm and Patty and her two friends barely manage to eke out an existence. The three manage to survive with the help of Patty's friends Jerry and Diane (who also appeared in A Thief in the Night), who sneak them food supplies. Even through all these circumstances, Patty refuses to put faith in God, instead blaming God for all the terrible things that have happened to her.

As time goes on, Patty and her friends' livelihood becomes more and more desperate as UNITE, the worldwide government, seeks to destroy those who will not take the mark of the beast. They manage to hang on until a supposed friend betrays them to UNITE and they are taken to the church to await their sentencing.

It is now the morning of Patty's execution and she still cannot make up her mind. At one point she almost decides to accept Christ, until she is faced with the guillotine and she learns the surprising identity of her betrayer. Patty can do nothing more now than scream with fright as her own execution draws near.

I have been looking for this movie for years. No one knew what I was talking about when I was talking about this. Everyone kept giving me the Left Behind series. This is one of the best christian movies.

I wonder at what point did Sandy betray Wenda and Patti and decide to take the mark. I knew something was up with her when Patti asked her at 0:46:15 if she was a Christian and she never answered, but you don't notice b/c of the storm and later the fire. I don't know who I felt the worst for, Patti or Sandy...

@TheBookWorm1718 I think Patti just couldn't accept the fact that she needed God to forgive her for her sins. She thought that she was already "good". In her mind, God was a villain who took away her husband, friends, grandmother and left her behind in a crazy world, only to force her to choose for Him or burn in hell. She saw God's attempts to reach her as an undeserved punishment instead of a loving gesture. Alot of people see God that way, Satan distorts their perception.....

@TheBambieyes Yeah that didn't make any sense to me. Early on Patti says she has a choice of dying tomorrow or taking a mark that isn't going to be worth it, right? Well the choice seems very obvious then. I just can't figure out how there could be people like that who hear all the warnings before time, and when it actually happens they see the proof and still refuse to believe. Doesn't make sense.

@1:10:51 When Patti says "It would've been so simple then!" Im like, it's so simple now! Pray the prayer girl! Let Jesus into your heart, it'll all be over in a few minutes. That just goes to show Patti didn't WANT IT. She had already turned against God in her heart. That's why I think NOW is the time to choose for God. I wouldn't take it for granted that you can choose for God after the rapture. If you don't want God now, who's to say you're going to want him after the rapture? Now, I know that

Does anybody else find it interesting that as far as these movies are concerned, the Anti-Christ himself actually plays a very small role in them? He's not what's dangerous, his followers are.

I know that everything happens for a reason and all things that do happen in this time must happen but for the life of me I simply cannot understand how anybody who is left after the rapture could see the people disappear, and see the mark being unveiled and see all this, and still not believe. It just doesn't make any sense.

Maybe it's just me, but if you knew you were going to die tomorrow, why would you keep your injured arm in a sling? What would be the point?

@lifeagiftofgod Yeah it's too bad that more people don't know about these movies, they're a LOT better than Left Behind. And you know, Left Behind is NOT a Hollywood movie but it's more Hollywood than these are. Here, it's not professional actors, it's not big budget, spectacular effects, so it looks and feels more realistic which should be the point.
