BEAM is it celebrating it's 25 Years Anniversary. On this Occasion we Interviewed Viviane Southwell, B.E.A.M. Excecutive Director, That tell's us about their work and the daily challenges and rewards they encounter.
BEAM came into existence because a group of ministers and church members realized the need for an agency to serve those in financial crisis. This solved two problems:
First of all, church staff were not always able to handle requests for help.
Secondly, many people were going from church to church receiving multiple assistance.
BEAM keeps detailed records to ensure that only the truly needy residents in emergency situations are assisted. BEAM does not have the funding to give ongoing assistance. When clients are assisted, they are given a list of other agencies that offer help. Beam is located In Jacksonville Beach and is on the web at http://www.jaxbeam.org
