You asked about 'envy'... well the difference between 'jealousy' and 'envy' is that when you are jealous, you want something that someone has, and you want it taken away from them. When you are envious, you want something that someone has, but you don't want it taken away from them. Yes, it is correct to say that you are envious of your friends going out, as you wish you could join in
