A short video about the new Falmouth cruise ship development in Jamaica - owned by Royal Caribbean paid for by the heavily indebted government of Jamaica - Historic Falmouth Jamaica TM a new tourist destination will compete with the actual historic town of Falmouth - the development of Falmouth and the jobs promised by the government will not happen and instead existing Falmouth small businesses are being displaced, the environment is being ravaged, and yet again the people of Jamaica have been conned by fake promises

  • This video is not true, I was in Falmouth recently and the development that is taking place there is going to be worth it. I know this. Though some people are going to be displaced, I am not sure where they will be relocated.

Falmouth is nice, I grew up there and since I have been there, I have not seen any interest to develop the place (until now), so that the people can benefit.

As it stands now, Falmouth looks like garbage, and I am glad it is being attended to. Enough said!

  • It is quite comforting to learn that this video is merely stretchig the truth.

  • ..............and have you noticed any major developments other than that its now pretty? Falmouth never new the phrase 'traffic jam' before- all roads led to ware or out... now you have to mind all those one ways and streets.

  • Making Falmouth aesthetically pleasing is irrelevant. What you people call 'trashy' looking is an historic town. So far, this development has ruined most of our mangroves, the coral reef and de-glistened glistening waters. It's blocked off certain areas to locals, so we now have less places to hang out, all those buses on the two-laned roads in the morning is frustrating

  • Wow, such negative comments. It doesnt look that great like many areas of jamaica that look crap. Just ghetto trashiness. You guys should be happy.

  • @vanderlot you are so right that place is a dump.Anything will be better than the current situation.

  • Tired of your overall 9 To Five situation? Visit roulettecash, org and make about 3300 Dollar month per 30 days on-line!

  • our country is a 3rd world country, so even though this "development" is happening everywhere, our country cannot handle the tides attached to that. So I have no clue why we so damn nuff and nuh just stick to we own raas hotel. Eh hem, pardon me. As I was saying though, we were doing fine with sandals, beaches, and other attractions; all sandals and beaches resorts are green globe certified. Ok well maybe I shouldnt say we were doing FINE before, but we were never in 224 US mil debt + more.

  • Contd. After falmouth the coastline has been damaged and detroyed to accommodate the tourists, they will not be spending more than a few hours in falmouth.. and then they're out. The revenue will not be going to our goverment. Probably only a 2% if that much. The gift shops, restaurants and where ever the tourists visit will be in the vicinity of royal caribbean entities, therefore, the money is going back to them. We are already in debt. So now we have 224 US mil to add on to that. Silly Gov.

  • @ the first comment. The video is not showing the development of Falmouth. It is showing that falmouth needs to develop a pier and another coastline to accommodate Royal Caribbean Cruise lines. The argument at hand here is that the cruise ship is already suitable enough for a 5 star vacation so tourists need not leave the ship. This is indeed happening everywhere, but jamaica needs its mangroves and coral reefs, etc. to survive.

  • peolple this is happening all over the world how many of the iconic british brands belong to british ppl? how many of the big american companies are totally owned by americans, i used to sell in Falmouth market with my sister when i was little Falmouth has been neglected. any form of invstment helps. it was in Jamaican hands and nonody did anything with it. the hotels own the beach but they take care of it, many of the public beaches are neglected and in a sad state

  • wait - anyone in this thread please tell me how jamaicans are going to MAKE money from this? I have been to Jamaica a dozen times and tourists, like lemmings are herded to predetermined locations where they can spend their cash.

Did any Jamaican construction companies get any bids? I am more than positive foreign workers were brought in to work on this newly introduced piece of land that isnt even considered jamaican soil.

Watch 'Life and Debt' to get an idea how Jamaica has been screwed.
