How can you send Excel data to a different sheet, without a macro, and no copying and pasting? Use an advanced filter -- and you can see how, in this video.

With an Excel Advanced Filter, you can filter the data in place, or you can filter it to a different location.

In this Excel video tutorial, you'll see the steps for setting up the advanced filter so the results are moved to a different worksheet, and the key steps for making this technique work.

  • Great video! I was able to do this successfully after one viewing. Is it possible to change the criteria on the "Orders" sheet (for instance from >1500 to >1000) and have it update the "Top Orders" sheet automatically? I tried something similar and it didn't do anything for me.

  • @Rodmusic2000 Thanks, I'm glad the video helped you. To make the list update automatically, you'd need to create a macro to run the filter when a change is made in the criteria range. There's a sample on the Contextures website (click link in video description). On the Sample Files page, under Filters, look for FL0002 - Product List by Week Number.

  • @Valthecatlover You're welcome! Thanks for letting me know that it helped.

  • It is an amazing job- but I could not get the 3 on the top orders- also the date such as

01/010/2009 alwasy comes out different one-and it does not show in the sample.

Also when trying to put the the prices in- can't get it right- could you please explain-thanks

  • Thanks this video saved my future

  • It was very helpful, but I have one question. I realized that the data filtered to a different sheet does not keep linked to the source. Is there a way to do this and keep the values linked to the source sheet?

  • Excellent, thanks This is very close to what I need.

Can you help me ? I need a macro that will verify the past due for more than 190 days and the values need to move to another worksheet. I guess it's need to be done with a macro. I appreciate your advanced help.

  • Hey its a great video. But may I check with you if I have new data and I place it in the bottom of the orders page, how do I format it in such a way that it will automatically appear in the top orders page if the amount goes above the top orders amount?

  • Hey its a great video but may I check with you, if I were to key in more new customers below the current existing list on the orders page. How do I format it such that the new data, which are larger then 1500, automatically appear in the top orders page?

  • Super Vedio Thankl you for Psoting I love excel and techinq how she explained. Expecting more Techniqs, Please upload.

  • Hi! it look great your video. I'm new in this, that's the reason I try to leraning something from people like you that control Excel very well. I went inside the contextures and I checked the filter FL0002. Do you think is possible to see the codes in your macro. Thanks,

  • @contextures I took a look at the sample and am not sure how to apply it to my workbook. I'll mess around and try to figure it out from your sample. Thanks for your help so far. I'll let you know if I get hopelessly stuck. Lots of great sample files on your site. I'm sure I'll find a few more quite useful.
