Contrary to popular belief money isn't free nor does it not grow on trees. Banks must pay for funds in their vault. This is a hard cost of goods just like a cab driver must put gas in his cab. Tthere is the cost to transport the cash not to mention the cost of building and employees to cash the check.Customers get it with their accounts Non customers must pay for it. You don't go through the drive through at McDonalds with a Coke cup and expect them to fill it for free because they serve Coke
pure ignorance. if you take a check drawn on your bank to another bank which you don't have an account with, they would NOT cash it for you cause there's no recourse for them to get the money back ! now, since you got a chase check and brought it to a chase bank, obviously there is a charge for non-customers because banks are a retail company just like any other stores. go ask your bank how much they charge non customers to cash checks drawn on your bank before you make another ignorant video.
you are my brother from another mother! i totally agree with you and because of this i am telling everyone i know to boycott CHASE BANK. i hate chase bank and am going to actively try my best to bring about the END OF JP MORGAN CHASE BANK. By the way did you know JP Morgan died in ROME,ITALY! it's because he and all his other banker buddies are in cahoots with the VATICAN and its SHADOW GOVERNMENT!!! KEEP STRONG IN THE FIGHT BROTHER!
you dont have an account you get charged smart butt, you did not get charged from the other bank because you do have an account there. maybe you should ask the bank you are banking with if they charge non- customers and maybe your mystery will be solved. BANKS ARE BUSINESSES geez get over it
Well first of all you do not have an account with Chase, so you are getting charged a fee, YOU ARE NOT A CUSTOMER!!!! Second, your bank cashed the check...with no fee because YOU ARE A CUSTOMER!!! You probably also had enough funds to cover the check that was written to you. Banks are NOT a non-profit org. they are a BUSINESS just like your Wal*mart and any other retail store. Third, ALL banks charge NON CUSTOMERS ask your bank. Most banks charge $10.00, so you were getting a deal at $6.00!!!!
And continuing my post below, it is now 2011 and they still will not reduce my rate...I am currently having one of the debt service companies deal with them for me.....
Well, about their credit cards, I was one day late on a payment back in 2008, and they slapped me with a 40.00 late fee and increased my interest rate to 29.99%. I have been a loyal customer of Chase since 1998. I made one payment online that was 1 (ONE) day late. They say that after six months they will reduce the 29.99% rate back to where it was. It never happened...I called them, and they said they can't reduce my rate because they are under a "rate freeze"
I had that same deal happen. So I told them that since those checks are worth less than face value, I would either not accept them in the future or tell the person to make it out for enough to cover the discount on the check.
@ferditdo Bank of America and Wells Fargo charge fees for cashing checks for non-customers as well, it just depends on the amount of the check, etc.
