A US reporter who interviewed the CHP deputy chairman published a portion of the interview on his blog recently and said that Onur Oymen compared the Muslim head scarf to Nazi brown shirts and Italian fascist Black Shirts. Oymen has denied that he made the comparison. ///
US reporter Dion Nissenbaum had interviewed Oymen in his Ankara office at the CHP headquarters for an article titled "Turkish court threatens to oust government that lifted headscarf ban," which appeared on April 18 in the world section of the McClatchy media group's Web site.
On Monday the Hurriyet daily published a story titled "'Headscarf is like a fascist uniform'" with reference to Nissenbaum's interview and quoted some of Oymen's remarks.
Oymen, at a press conference at the Parliament, said Nissenbaum had used his own impressions in what he wrote, not verbatim. Oymen also complained about Hurriyet's title giving the impression that he had likened wearing a headscarf to wearing a fascist uniform.
DOUG PLEASE SAY: vtr-Onur Oymen /
"It seems that the reporter himself summarized my quotes in a single sentence and the newspaper published it this way."
The US reporter Dion Nissenbaum, who felt uneasy because Oymen denied what he wrote, published the full scripts of the interview as well as the sound recording of the interview on his blog called "Checkpoint Jerusalem".
vtr-Onur Oymen / CHP Genel Baskan Yardimcisi (ses kaydi-alt yazi yazilacak)
"... For instance, why Nazi clothings, uniforms, are prohibited in Germany? Isn't it a democracy, Germany? Why you prohibit such uniforms? Because they feel that there's a threat of a revival of Nazi tradition. You see the difference."
vtr-Dion Nissenbaum /
" So you would equate head scarves with Nazi...?"
vtr-Onur Oymen /
" Of course, yes. Anything, not only head scarf, but anything, any uniform that will be used as a symbol of a political belief or religious belief is a sort of identification of a religious or national symbols to dominate the society."
Reporter Nissenbaum asks the reader to judge for themselves whether the quotes are authentic or not.
Meanwhile, a journalist from Star daily in Turkiye underlines that Oymen is notorious with his forgetfulness, for instance, he objected to the Customs Union in the frame of the EU although it was he who had signed the agreement of the Customs Union on behalf of Turkiye.
he is a true statesman who does not sell out.. he is absolutely right that certain model head scarf is the official female headgear of the current pro-islamic regime in turkey..

It doesn't matter anyway. The parents are ignorant and disrespectful to the country they choose to live in but their children grow up as Western, no matter how their parents try to prevent it. Isn't it funny how they choose to live in a Western "paradise" but refuse to embrace the culture that made that country great. How stupid can people be? Have you never noticed that not one country on earth that has a non-secular government is one that people tend to want to emigrate to?
