  • What about linux?

  • @gapek1 It is possible to build applications for Symbian on Linux. Even Qt applications. But all that is unfortunately not (yet) officially supported by Nokia or Symbian. However, if you google for: toolchain symbian linux

You will find a few ways how to do that, nevertheless.

  • Who cares about Windows, give us Linux based SDK!

  • Hello. I've downloaded Qt SDK and the Symbian SDK (the one available on Symbian.org website) I've downloaded the qt symbian open source too. But this last installer can't automatically find my Symbian SDK folder. What can i do ? (My symbian SDK is S60 5th Edition SDK v1_0)

  • It's a shame that the qt-symbian-opensource-4.6.3.exe wont install on a 64bit Windows 7 when there is no 64bit specific version available.

All in all the install process is horrendeous and WAY to big a hassle - make a simplified installer that does all the background work instead of this otherwise nice tutorial.

Also support 64bit windows - nobody really uses 32bit anymore.

  • Hello can I also develop on my Nokia 6630? I'm new to Symbian and I was following this guide however I keep getting "file corrupted" Whenever I try installing qt_demo.sis This also happens when I try installing PIPS.sis

  • Please! Make the environment setup easier!!! It is too hard start to develop for nokia phones!

  • Thanks for the info ... once the 1Gb worth of files ends downloading i shall give it a try... my biggest pain in symbian development is not quite the API (Qt shall help in that matter) but the aplication sign mechanism... that prevents an unsigned aplication to work v_v
