My Love is Like A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns closes this film about Scots-American links, made with the help of a tartanised version of Elvis Presleys American Trilogy . More at http://ayewecan.blogspot.com/

Produced for the first ever official visit of the new Scottish Parliament (or any Scottish Parliament!) to the US Parliament (The Senate and House) during Tartan Day 2001, it is now revived to help celebrate Rabbie's 250th birthday and Barack's inauguration, both just five days apart.

McElvis is joined by his Sweet Inspirations, who include Members of The Scottish Parliament, Pauline McNeil (Labour) , Lindsey McIntosh (Conservative) and Margo MacDonald, (SNP then, now independent). The Bard though has the last word, with the assistance of the first man on the moon, Scots- American, Neil Armstrong!

A moon landing, a little share in Americas first black President's heritage, and the most revered poet of all time - celebrated in Washington, Alloway and Moscow to name but three venues.

Not bad for our national bard 250 years on. Not bad for oor wee nation either! And theres much, much more. Just watch and be amazed and updated at the very end for 2009 !

  • This was beautiful, enlightning and touching! I am at a lost for words and walk away from this film as a well informed individual!! Thank you so much for sharing!! ;-) God bless!

  • Have you watched my "Obama is Scottish film" . Not so well made - just picture stills cut on my laptop - , but a good laugh and I hope the same point made in a different way.

These rednecks do need telling often that they are on te wrong side of history. And if we can get themi smiling and their feet tapping, who knows some might one day come around, join the party rather than spoil it

All the very best - keep in signing love your stuff

    Alan

  • Hey sister - i am so glad you liked it - We could have done with your soul singing - these white girls did fine but,,,,

And i hope you got the message of the film: We are all linked up - well the good guys anyway - and more african- americans have some scottish blood in them than you might think - Roas Parkes to name but one, born Roas McCauley with a scottish grandad1 Maybe that where she got some of her courage from!

But Scottish ideas - imported, adapted, updated - are more important

  • my pleasure

help us get the good news out there message ou there

my fim - somebody else's hard work

    Alan x

  • Very good Alan!

  • Us Scottish-Americans will never forget our old homeland Scotland

  • What can a song belonging to a state which fought tooth and nail to keep slavery and which persecuted blacks and continues to do so ?? Why Would we want to associate ourselves with that ?

For me this song conjures up only pictures of rednecks in bed sheets and burning crosses !! Dixie ?? Not this call sign ...........EVER !! SAOR ALBA

  • @ronnoten Thank you for proving my point ronnoten, anyone with the least amount of intelligence can see you for what you are, have a nice day

  • @Jinky1888 Any chance of taking your so called scottish head out your arse? I could lose you on scottish history, but thats just my opinion. your so scottish you use an american saying "have a nice day" in an attempt to dismiss me (lol) I never said you mentioned kilts, i did, when your head stops bullshiting itself, let me know.

  • @ronnoten What has Kilts got to do with anything i said?, did i even ever mention kilts?, no. The reason that you mentioned the romanticisation of the kilt by writers like Stevenston, is your silly little attempt at having a jab, and also a way of mesuring me by my response.

i think you will find i am pretty abundant.

Run along now you fake Scottish, Anglo-Saxon usurper.

    Have a nice day

  • @Jinky1888 Im scottish, and going by your name a fellow celtic supporter. Scotland is a great place, but im not fooled by the bullshit we have caused either. do you really believe scots wear kilts and always have? Its one big con. check what woodrow wilson signed in what would be a great advantage to the bankers, something we are still paying for till this day.

  • Never have i looked at, and certainly never have i commented on any English videos here on youtube, but for some reason, no matter what the subject, here on youtube, if the video involves Scotland you will most certainly find bitter jealous English people doing whatever they can to sully the name of Scotland.

(give it a try, search Scottish in the term box and see for yourself,, it is almost a scientific phenomenon "

  • @ronnoten No matter where you go on the interenet, no matter what videos or written articles that have even the smallest gratitude towards Scotland or Scottish people, you will find at least 10 English rats trying to slag off Scotland and the Scottish people.

  • what a load of pish, colin powell is a crook. sean connery? he comes to scotland once a year and those politicians, dont make me laugh. Woodrow wilson is an embarrasment, dont be fooled by crap videos like this.
