  • I'll be modifying my foundry propane self aspirated burners by shortening the bore from 10" to 3" and adding an oil drip manifold in front of the venturi which will retain its propane option but easily and quickly convert to oil burn by disconnecting propane and conncecting the air hose and opening the oil drip. I can preheat if needed and then go to oil to reach full smelting temps. Oil makes sense as propane produces 91,000 BTU/gal and oil produces 130,000 BTU/gal and oil is free or cheap.

  • @BrimstoneMerc Sounds like an experiment- post a video if possible!

  • What is the size of your air hole, and how much pressure are you running ?

  • @MrMikey2002812 Same specs as "Babington burner 01: waste oil"

  • It will stay lit as long as both air and fuel are supplied continuously. The one's you see that won't stay lit are not tuned properly. Mine being one of them!

  • @FoxWhite50

The tuning/ tweaking phase depends upon fuel viscosity (about 10 centistokes+/- is a target), fuel flash point (don't go below flashpoint of 100deg F, or you'll have a flaming overflow container/ sump), filtration of waste oil, the rate of oil flow, position of burner tip in relation to oil flow, psi of air used, diameter of hole/ holes in burner tip, ambient temperature (affects viscosity), wind, weather, etc...
