  • Ok, I have been watching your videos almost everyday. They are other-worldy. I have become a Ross Daly fan! Thank you for posting them lagoutieris! Now my question is: Why is this song called Lokasti's dream? BTW, this lavta-laouta is a beauty.

  • I am really glad you enjoy them peybak. As far as the title goes I cannot be very illuminating, Iokasti is Greek for Jocasta (the mother (and wife!) of Oedipus). I don't know if Ross had the actual character in mind... The instrument is exceptional I agree.

  • This is indeed a laouto especially commisioned in 1985 from Turkish master luthier Ragip Akdeniz who is particularly well known for his outstanding work on the saz. The body design is from a very old oud that I found in Cairo. Ragip usta worked around this body design and created all the rest in accordance with the proportions of the lavta. It uses a miture of saz and Cretan laouto strings and is here tuned e b E b

  • Ross geia hara sou kai thanx for the clarification. Most of it it seems I got it right since well....you told me so! (some years back, in your house in Petralona). I hope Houdetsi will wait for our annual pilgrimage next summer too. Kalo xeimona.
