Black Film Makers Hall of Fame was founded in 1973 in Oakland, California. It supports and promotes black filmmaking, and preserves the contributions by African Americans artists both before and behind the camera. This particular television special honored Debbie Allen, Jasmine Guy, Elizabeth Welch, Lola Falana, Lena Horne, Gregory Hines and Robert Townsend. The Salute to Lena was performed by Debbie de Coudreaux (at the time starring at the Moulin Rouge in Paris), Jasmine Guy (television star) and Lorraine Fields (Broadway performer). In addition, there were appearances by: Danny Glover, Savion Glover, Pam Grier, Robert Hooks, Geoffrey Holder, Judith Jamison, Michael Peters, Richard Roundtree, Sinbad, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Jerry Lewis.
This was awesome!!!! I never heard of this awards show. Does it come on every year????????

Hi Doll, glad you liked the video. No, I absolutely did not choreograph the number. It was done by Michael Peters (he was a well known choreographer who did all of the Michael Jackson videos as well as others). The entire number was 11 minutes long!
