The Smoking Tire hits the canyons with one of the fastest Audi's on the road: Stasis Engineering's Supercharged R8 5.2 FSI. Matt Farah wrings out the red Spyder on an empty canyon road, proving that no amount of horsepower is ever too much.

You watch too much Top Gear. How a car responds to drifting isn't handling, because when cars are developed, they are designed to grip, not specifically for drifting. You would be targeting way too small of a market if you developed exotics to be good at drifting.

Matt, you make a good point, but cars such as the silvia s15 and the BRZ develop such a following because of how they drift. While grip is key to control-ability and lap times, you do not necessarily need a lot of grip to have a fun car, good handling car, that's what a chassis is for.

    Thanks for the great vids,

    Jake

The BRZ, Silvia, 240, etc, develop a following because they are cheap and RWD. The most common thing I hear from people looking to get into drifting is they want RWD and cheap. I don't hear about people asking for $100,000 drift cars. And at the professional level, you want a TON of grip from your drift car.

It's not malfunctioning when it says "tyre pressure" ... Stock rims come with tire pressure sensors and those are not stock rims and there is no pressure sensor so it'll trip tyre sensor everytime you turn it on...

I've had 3 240's, driven an Aw11 MR2 hundreds of times, and had my fair share of time behind the wheel of an Rx7, and i must say, as much as i love older Japanese cars, they're all dog shit in comparison to modern sports cars. I drove a 2013 BMW 318 through the canyon the other day, and i just wanted to slap myself for how much money i've dumped on old Nissans.
