Born from the ashes of the Guardian newspaper talkboards, NOTtheTalk aims to promote discussion of ideas at all levels. You can ask big questions of what -- when you get right down to it -- it is all about, smaller ones of how to get to Bucharest by train, or bizarre ones about the possibilities of the dried soup toastie. The issues of the day, the issues of your day, film, music, sport, abstract philosophy, baby-led weaning, or whiling away a dull day by writing terrible limericks - someone will share your interest.

We have stay-at-home parents and people who spend their lives shuttling from oil-rig to supertanker; lecturers, lorry drivers and lawyers; artists and administrators; teenagers and octogenarians; of all religions and political shades. As-it-happens news of world events shares space with as-we-watch commentary on Britain's Next Top Coathanger. We can argue all day about the best way to poach an egg, and will stay up all night to help a poster in trouble. We have talked people off ledges, up career ladders and across oceans.

SoftlySpoken has disappeared and Thor is banned automatically although he keeps trying to get back in under different guises...when he's found out he gets ejected. Quo manages to steer just clear of committing bannable offences...but only just.
