Corporation Funding Politician - Target Supports Tom Emmer.mov

Looking at Target's donation of money to MN Forward in support of Tom Emmer as an indicator of things to come in the United States. When corporations support politicians directly the citizen's role as a consumer/voter is made all the more important. Please free to comment and critique. Thank you for your time.

Trust me, Target did not support MN Forward because they wanted to support Tom Emmer's anti-gay agenda. Target is nationally and internationally recognized for their promotion of diversity in the workplace. Yeah, it was a misstep by Target, something that was overlooked, but the point of the matter is that this action was taken in an attempt to support job creation. Not for Tom Emmer's social agenda. If you don't like Tom Emmer, don't vote for him. Wow..that was easy...

@guthanne I don't think Target supported Tom Emmer because they are anti-gay. I think their want of profit has reached father than their support of people that are gay. I won't vote for Tom Emmer because he is anti-gay. I won't shop at Target because they support Tom Emmer (reason for support doesn't change the effect) for the same reason. I will vote as a citizen and I will vote as a consumer. Consumer and employee rights should never be held in higher regard than national and state rights.

Their contribution to a conservative group was because the marxist lefties want to drain businesses dry regardless of the consequences to support leftist social causes. @braindeadliberalsTarget does give great benefits to domestic partners, only for their employees. However the legal rights to marriage equality may be hampered for all LGBT people in Minnesota because of Target's support of Tom Emmer. Target does contribute to charities and is a huge supporter of education but a bad choice by a good store doesn't make the choice less bad "Want business to pay to hurt themselves" expand? Some folks (me) want business to be socially responsible, human over profit.

@dukeljk I don't think corporations should have the freedom to support politicians financially. The legal system holds that a "corporation" has many of the rights of an individual person. A corporation does not exist in the same human framework. A person needs clean air to breathe, a country where police protect people not corporate interest, a person should have the right to love. A corporation only wants the rights to make the most amount of profit it can and will vote with money accordingly.

target is anti union not anti gay. the candidate that supports unions would make target and walmart and others pro union. the ceo's of these companies should have the right to do what they want with their money whatever they want to do with it. the other way is communism. i am not anti gay but i am anti union. the unions have destroyed businesses. just look at detroit. and the car industry. i think they would support whoever that guy is even if he was a rapist, as long as he was anti union.
