@PlanckEpoch Look, it's even sweet that someone would bother. Nobody's attacking the kindness of an admirer. But because comedy is a very competitive business, there are 2 things about it that are not so cool:
- Testing material that could be easily ripped off because somebody posted a YouTube video;
- The fact that a paid TV special will benefit her career far more than a phone video.
Unfortunately, they have to watch out.
Maybe they hate saying it but they have to watch out.

She sounds like a young girl, she was probably really excited. I would be too, she was polite and put her camera away.

You don't film people and post the vid on YouTube without permission.
You film yourself and post yourself on YouTube, without any need for permission.

Sarah Silverman has become a typical celeb thinking she's too good for people. Is she even funny anymore?

good of you to post the video, a lot of people just don't know any better, now they do!

@bunions4444 REALLY lame, and should be banned or kicked out of theatre.
It's the same as recording a movie in theatre or recording a concert or something like that.
These performers are making a living out of this, and if they have no one to "sell" their art to, they can't make their living.
It's basically piracy.

(continued) Sometimes a person will make a poor quality recording of a performance and sell it commercially, and that is making a bootleg. It's up to the club whether to check for recording devices, but of course they aren't going to confiscate all phones, that wouldn't be practical. If I were a performer and caught someone recording I'd probably just stop the show. People really shouldn't do this, unless the person on the stage says it's alright to do so.
The reason she probably did a surprise performance was that she was going to try new material. That doesn't mean every single thing she'll say is new. It just means she's trying something new in her act. To film and post anyone without their permission is in deed lame.
Go Sara.

Jokes are developed on stage. She's clearly trying out new material in a small room here. A performance like this is the equivalent to a writer's first draft. She doesn't even know if these jokes are finished, yet. She's still working them out. It's perfectly understandable why she wouldn't that on the internet. "Welcome to the 21st century", you say? Well, welcome to comedy clubs, where comics often pick on the audience.
