1999 Mazda Miata 1.8 L timing belt and water pump remove replace. Not too bad of a job to do this Mazda Miata timing belt or water pump. The water pump was a little more involved that I thought, but it is what it is. You may consider getting a new valve cover gasket for this Mazda Miata job, especially if you see any oil inside where the spark plugs go.

  • Seriously, your video helped out big time. Its nice to see someone that is able to hold the camera steady and talk into the mic. So often I try to watch tutorials and the camera is pointing at the sky, and I can barely hear the person speaking.

  • @rickkristin Glad to help. I actually got a new camera and the aim is different, and I have noticed some of my shots are showing nothing helpful to anyone! Re-do! Thanks for watching.

  • Thank you for the video:)! I was wondering how long does it take to do the timing belt and water pump? Thanks

  • @mysteryimpt Estimating - I would say doing it for the 1st time 3-4 hours (with the right tools at least).

  • @Autotechviewpoint Ah! one more question. What tools MUST be handy while doing the job? Since I only got one car and thats my lovely Miata thanks:)!

  • @mysteryimpt Ahhhh.... good question. Honestly I don't really remember all the tools that I used. That has been so long ago already... :( I am trying to add that kind of info into more videos... You should really have a good set of all 3 sets of sockets, preferably in metric for the newer cars. 1/2 in. 3/8 in. and 1/4 drive socket sets in metric. I think the toughest part on timing belt jobs is removing crankshaft pulley. Breaker bar and a way to hold engine or pulley...HTH
