Great find with the colonial silver. It is my understanding that they were legal tender in the US until 1840 due to the shortage of coinage. Hope that helps.

@farenheit1100 Thanks that helps to explain the amount of heavy wear. I know just how lucky I was to find this coin. While it might only be worth a couple of bucks in silver value it has to be by far my best find today. I don't go out and detect for what I find as most days I don't find anything great. I go out and detect for what I could find. For what might be waiting on me to find, for what might be waiting on me in the next hole. Thanks for watching, HH
