Greece's "Phoney War" on Smoking.

The head of a crackdown against public smoking in Greece claims it is already having the desired effect of encouraging people to give up tobacco.
Greece, the most nicotine addicted country in Europe, introduced tough penalties at the start of the month for those who breach new legislation.
But as Malcolm Brabant reports from Athens, offenders are being treated with kid gloves.

@TheWilliamcale well some of us aren't "stupid" like you. We understand the consequences of our actions and don't need people like you telling us what to do. Being 20 pounds over weight is worse for you than smoking so should we allow fat teachers to teach our children? They're setting a horrible example right?

Good for Greece and the U.S should have done the same.

Today I argued w/a middle age woman who's parents are still alive who smoke. She said they can only smoke outside. That really shows respect to them after giving her life & raising her well then puts them out in the cold for a cigarette. I told her if that was me? I put her outside in the cold if she was my kid! All of you so scared to die? Your still going to & leave us alone!

I can't believe the Greeks, of all peoples, would put up with this interference with their liberties. This is the nation where riots break out if the government does anything to piss the people off.
