What started as a factual 200-word article for a newspaper soon turned into a 20,000-word madcap made-up story by Bing Turkby.

Turakina's craziest rock band The Bing Turkby Ensemble set off for a routine gig in Napier, only to be drawn into a maelstrom of stolen cash, ruthless henchmen and magical powers.
When the band accept an offer that's too good to be true, they unwittingly involve themselves in a war between two of New Zealand's most dangerous crime bosses, Fats Eddie and Ronnie Runco. They eventually avail themselves of arcane powers to bring the whole mess to an end, trying to pay back stolen loot while still making it to gigs on time.
