@Jackiedajackass No. The video did specifically mention that only incidents involving firearms or resulting in injury or death would be prosecuted. So, if a preacher condemns homosexuality we'll shout him down, but we won't put him in jail. Freedom of speech, right?

There is no need for hate crime laws, if someone commits a violent act they get punished in the legal system. Why do they need to be prosecuted more because they didn't commit the crime on a certain race or belief system. Why categorize people into groups? You're saying people are different with these laws and they should be treated equally under the law.

Hate crime laws are there because a situation gets out of hand & it sends a clear message that things need to change quick. It also offers support fpr the people that are shit scared from receiving the violence as that certain group starts to become paranoid, as a whole & over defensive. The land of the free is far from it.
As far as keeping them implimented over a long period of time, I don't think that is the answer. It should stay until the US gets over their generalised hatred
