Two years ago, our senior class was tasked to individually give back to our local communities through a project. Preferably something that would benefit the people there as well as something you like to do. I've always loved to help people and I saw that we had a serious need to inform students about college and the proper steps to get there.
It became known as G.A.T.O.R.S. (Grades, Abilities, Talents and Opportunities Reward Success). From then, I held bi-weekly presentations and meetings with the students to get them on the right track.
It's hard to be believe it'll have been close to two years since the first meeting. Since then, I've gone away to college myself, hoping to bring my educational fruits back to my community.
This was my actual presentation to the service project judges. I felt I needed to create a video and allow it to explain itself, rather than go the traditional Powerpoint route. It was also good practice for my other interest: media.
