The longest running tie in the history of English cup competitions, Bolton take Swindon to a third replay, before an extra time Ross MacLaren goal finally settles it with just three minutes remaining. Watch for the disallowed Bolton goal in the second replay, back in the days when offside really was offside!

  • Really enjoyed watching all that, that was more exciting than any penalties or golden goal could ever be!

You don't happen to have any videos of the '95 Coca-Cola Cup Semi do you? I'd love to see that again!

  • Yeah.... I thought I had both, but the first leg had been taped over!! Still have the second leg though.....

  • This is the longest LEAGUE Cup tie ever. There is a few FA Cup matches which has gone on longer.

  • Briliant stuff. Was as the two games at Burnden - would be interesting to see what sort of crowd we'd get for a similar match these days - doubt it would be anywhere near 14,000!

  • I know the rules on offside are confused now. But that dissalowed goal was harsh in the extreme.

Did that tie remain the longest running tie in English football history? I remmember Liverpool Everton and Arsenal Leeds went to 3 or 4 in the early 90's?
