Today, the tides are turning, even handsome men become objects of desire for politicians. Doesn't matter whether it's a scandal or a love affair, people have gradually realized that gays are not play things living on the fringe of society anymore. He or she has become a deciding figures in society, who takes the direct approach to be involved in and to create a beautiful, peaceful world. "Queer as Folk Beijing" exclusively interviewed John J. Duran, the queer mayor of West Hollywood, and his partner, on their visit to China. Their story is very much a Hollywood tale. John J. Duran lives openly as a gay man and as an HIV positive individual. He has always been very involved in the development of queer culture and queer rights. He came to Beijing exclusively to be a part of the opening ceremony for the Beijing LGBT Culture and Activity Center and to officiate the wedding of a Chinese gay couple.
