The worlds oldest ice hockey arena and one of the nations exemplary athletic facilities, Matthews Arena has been a Boston staple since 1910.
The original home of the Boston Bruins, the Celtics and the Beanpot, the Arena has served as the center of Northeastern hockey since the programs inception for the 1929-30 season.
Past Arena dignitaries include Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhardt, James Michael Curley, Reverend Billy Graham, Admiral Chester Nimitz and General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Started in spring 2009, the Matthews Arena renovation project will remake the worlds oldest Arena into a state-of-the-art modern facility.
Coinciding with its 100 year anniversary, the new Matthews will open for the 2009-2010 Huskies hockey and basketball seasons.
The renovated Matthews Arena will be easily accessible to all guests, and will feature new locker rooms, new athletic training rooms, a new press box, new seats, new concession stands, a new sound system and a new central-hung state-of-the-art video board.

The real question is: Will the concessions serve alcohol? That's always been my one gripe about Matthews, no beer.
