so like i thought in lab tech this test is kinda useless in terms of diagnosis, well its an itis of some sort.......maybe

Yeah, that's a valid point. It's not useless though. It's an inexpensive and minimally invasive test to determine if whether or not what the patient has is an inflammatory process/disease. A positive ESR can either 1. Make a diagnosis (with other supporting symptoms present), or 2. Help narrow down possible diagnoses. Often an MD will order a more specific test if the ESR is positive.
