  • La vraie Rumba africaine avec le maître

    RIP

  • Youlou Mabiala, Josky Kiambukuta on the vocals - deadly!

  • Franco talking to rumormills

  • Seen the band in Bruxelles many years ago, i'm still very much impressed by their musical talents.

  • @chahenza Radio trottoir is an idiomatic way to say gossiping

  • jakojuaya: Great kabisa sana! I think this is the original recording in a Kinshasha studio, in those days when the whole band had to be in, at a single take session: no digital remixing. There is that hollow space where the base floats; and that is Mabiala in soloist lead with Ntesa prevalent in chorus, and the trademark hoarse Opetum chants! When well performed, a composition of Poet Simarro is ofcourse timeless! Take a hearing at Pepe Kalle and Carlito in 'MAYA'! that blood-curdling wail.

  • @chahenza lol no, radio trottoir can be translated in English as pavement radio. Since the media/news is controlled by politicians, people turn to pavement radio, nobody controls the radio trottoir and its said that rumors in Africa are often truer than the truth itself. cheers.
