Dr. James Olthuis and Dr. Robert Sweetman discuss the Summer 2009 course 'Loves Wisdom: Soundings in Pre- and Post-modern Philosophy'

This seminar explores the treatment of love in its connection with our being human and our being religiously rooted in God, and does so via texts that span the border regions between philosophy, theology, and spirituality. We will examine texts of Plato, Aelred of Rievaulx, Julian of Norwich, Luce Irigaray, Jean-Luc Marion, and James Olthuis and consider whether and how love marks out the deepest horizon within which to grapple with the mystery of our being human and our being rooted in God.
