Lovely version of this Barbara but imho there is one person who can really convey the message and that is Garth Brooks, especially on a video dedicated to Christine who died a few years ago. This is a really lovely version of it though by our own Foster and Allen.

@oldtexasmusic. Hi,yes they have sung so many lovely songs with their extra special Irish voices,They are true legends.
That song just struck a chord with it's lyrics,some things are better left to chance,God's will,knowing there we would be pain,we might have sidestepped and missed the dance.

@pastore0506 I only heard it recently,there's were the first cd's I bought,have lots of their songs,my sister bought the cd at a car boot sale,heard The Dance,the lyrics really struck a cord with me.
