Russian Winnie-the-Pooh (episode 1 of 3) with new translation: A. Milne's original text was used where it was a close match.

This is one of the best examples of Soviet animation, loved by children and adults alike. Only three episodes out of planned nine were completed, and you can watch them all here.

Switch your YouTube player to HQ mode and enable Closed Captions (CC) to see English subtitles.

Below is "Winnie-Poohetry" for this episode:

I. Winnie-the-Pooh Sings Ditties [New]

If I scratch the back of my head, it's okay!
There is only sawdust in it, yeah, yeah, yey!
But although there's only sawdust,
All these shouties & those screamies,
And also the noisies, pantloudies and sighpuffies...
I compose them rather nicely on some days! Yes.

Winnie-Pooh lives quite a good life in this land,
That is why he sings these ditties all aloud! What he's doing doesn't matter,
If he doesn't grow much thinner,
And I know that he won't get there...
If he doesn't skip the dinner... Yes.

II. It HAZZ to BEE for a Reason!
[Original verses by A. Milne]

It's a very funny thought that
If Bears were Bees,
They'd build their nests at the bottom of trees.

Isn't it funny
How a bear likes honey?
Buzz-buzz-buzz!
I wonder why he does?

III. Pooh and Piglet go to a Secret Place [New]

The place where we are going
Is 'secret big and great,
That we're not telling anyone
Oh no, oh no... And... Yeah!

IV. Tut-tut, it looks like rain
[Modified original version]

I'm 'rainy little Cloud
And not at all a Bear

How sweet to be a Cloud
Floating anywhere!

It makes him very proud
To be a little cloud

Every little cloud
Always sings aloud:

(Start from the beginning)

  • OMG PIGLET'S NAME IN RUSSIAN IS PIKACHU! xDD xx

  • @iiHeyMoon It's actually "Pyatatchok", but still very close, good catch!

  • Could someone send me the Russian words to Winnie's Poohs first ditty? I'm studying Russian, but I am relatively new to the language so I am having a hard time catching his words (he's so fast!), but I love it!

  • @sazmedley: Here's the Russian lyrics for the first song: Если я чешу в затылке - Не беда, В голове моей опилки, Да-да-да! Но хотя там и опилки, Но кричалки, и вопилки, А также шумелки, Пыхтелки и сопелки... Сочиняю я неплохо Иногда! Да! Хорошо живет на свете Винни-Пух, Оттого поет он эти Песни вслух. И неважно, чем он занят, Если он худеть не станет, А ведь он худеть не станет Если, конечно, Вовремя подкрепится... Да!
