I cannot play the scales from the first video. I mean I play it but that doesn't sound like a scale. Is it because my cello is not tuned or just me?

@RachaelWise I don't recommend it just because I did exactly that and after a while the adhesive does get a little messy to remove. There is some kind of position training thingy you can get and they're pretty cheap. I think that would have been better but I don't know for sure.
