In this video I will show you how easy it's to use your macbook pro as a display monitor by connecting a mini display port to a HDMI cable output, just follow these simple steps and you will be enjoying movies, pictures, and family videos in no time on your BIG LCD TV. this is also a great way to use your MacBook Pro as your streaming device if you don't have one.
I'm using a 40" sony XBR5, my Macbook pro is a 15" display and Im using a dynex miniport (bestbuy.com)with a sony HDMI cable.
this video was shot using my iphone 4

  • macs from before mid-2010 don't play sound through the minidisplay port. i watched this video, bought a MDP-HDMI cable and it didn't work... wish i'd known!

  • @noisyneil if you had read the video description and go to the link I post it, you WOULD HAD KNOWN but a lot of time people just don't pay attention to detail and think that this video is for every Mac user when in fact is NOT. thank you for watching and sorry it didn't work for you but, I try to put as must info. for my viewer but is up you them (you) to do the rest.

  • @snoopy4lb i posted my comment hoping it would let other people (who sometimes neglect to read video descriptions but do look at the comments) know about it. i definitely don't blame you for my laziness! thanks for making the video... my girlfriend's mac is newer so we can use it with that! win!

  • @noisyneil thank a lot for doing that, I usually have to replay to the same answer like four times a month, but whatever I can do to help you guys I'm here for you. thank once again for watching and please thumbs up this video. have a nice day

  • @Adriankarma look at my video at minute 1:58 you will see that we are on the same page (you and me) however since the screen on your mac is damage you still need to use the screen on the mac to change some settings (mirror screen) so it can show the same image from the mac to the TV, the only way to do this is knowing exactly where is the mouse pointing on the screen. so you will have to try to select system preferences cause technically that will be the only way or get you screen.

  • hey man.. i recently just bought a mini to hdmi wire for my mac cause my macs screen is broken BUT when connected to my tv it only shows a grey aple screeen and my mouse. nothing more. HELP??

  • YOUTUBEception.

  • @MarioVilla1984 Then, I lend the cable to a friend, who has a Samsung LED 42'' TV and a Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8 LEOPARD, and he has video bur no audio, then took my Macbok Pro LION to my friends house, and mine works perfectly. So I guess the OS version has something to do with that, or maybe if the Macbook is too old it won't let you play the audio through you TV.
